Areas of Research
 

Assurance Services: Human information processes applied to professional judgement in accounting and auditing. Expertise, expert systems and decision support systems. Accounting information systems. Audit methods and techniques. Corporate governance. Legal liability. Professional ethics.

Finance: Asset pricing. Derivative valuation. Computational finance with emphasis on partial differential equations and Monte Carlo Methods. Corporate finance. Empirical studies.

Financial: Capital markets. Discretionary and mandatory disclosure. Archival empirical methods. Environmental issues.

Management: Analytical, behavioural and field-based research methodologies. Design and use of cost management, goal setting, incentive systems and performance measurement systems in organizations. Productivity, activity-based accounting, value-based management, cost of quality, financial and non-financial performance measurement systems, ethical issues.

Taxation: Taxation policy - formulation, analysis and evaluation of government taxation policy. Decision-making - impact of taxation on personal and business decision-making. Income tax planning - planning in all areas of individual and corporate economic activity including, but not limited to, estate and succession planning. Statutory and common law - understanding and application of income tax legislation and common law in all areas of individual and corporate economic activity.
