Development of the student's teaching ability is a major concern of the Department. It is expected that two years of teaching experience will be obtained by all students during their graduate training. Toward this end, students are strongly encouraged to accept teaching assistantships. Senior students are eligible to apply for teaching fellowships. Such positions permit students to develop courses for which they have complete responsibility.
