Introduction

Interdisciplinary Study

Some students, particularly those having a special interest in the influence of light on biological organisms, may wish to do interdisciplinary doctoral or Master's work in the Department of Biology and the School of Optometry. A variety of approaches ranging from molecular and photochemical through physiological/neurophysiological and ecological/environmental is encouraged.

Other students may wish to pursue interdisciplinary study in the area of gerontology where there is an increased research interest in aging processes and the status of being old. For such students, the following options are available: (1) reading courses on gerontological topics, independent research, or a thesis under the direction of faculty in their home department, or in another department inside or outside of their Faculty. (2) doctoral or Master's work involving the study of aging phenomena.

Additional information concerning interdisciplinary study can be found in this calendar under Organization of Graduate Studies .
